The Kid Witness News (KWN) Program is a hands-on, team-centred video education program that encourages students to seek new experiences, and enhance their organizational and communication skills. Through the use of video, KWN aims to inspire self-confidence, creativity and excitement in the learning process. Panasonic Canada is proud to have participated in the global KWN program for the past 25 years.
Panasonic lends video production equipment to schools for student video productions. Videos created by the students are submitted to an annual awards competition in each participating country. The national winners are recognized by Panasonic’s global Kid Witness News program at: http://www.panasonic.com/global/corporate/kwn.html. More details on the 2016-17 program will be made available on the site at a later date.
The process of KWN starts in September at the start of the school year. Each school team selects one of the official KWN topics on which to produce a short video, and the shooting and editing process is completed by mid-February for submission. Although these films are only five minutes in length, past examples have shown the messages they contain are quite powerful.
